This worksheet is a practice on writing sentences with regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs in the present tense
Create original sentences by combining elements from columns A, B, and C using the following guidelines:
Use every subject once from column A
Conjugate the verb in column B to match the subject.
Choose the correct phrase in column C so that your sentence makes sense.
Write 6 sentences per verb type.
Students will write a total of 18 sentences
This practice is a worksheet to practice writing and answering original information questions with irregular verbs in the preterit.
Students will write and answer 12 questions total.
Verbs included:
I stem: hacer, querer, venir
U stem: andar, tener, saber, poder, poner, estar
J stem: traer, conducir, decir
For each irregular verb, follow these guidelines:
Write the correct stem from the word bank provided.
Write an original information question using the verb, question word, clue word (ayer etc) and the subject provided.
Questions must be 6 words minimum. Clue words (ayer, el otro día count as one word only)
Answer your original information question in a complete sentence.

Present subjunctive sentence practice (no on-line translators)
Combine elements from column A (introductory verbs), column B (que), column C (present subjunctive verb) and add 3-4 words to create an original sentence. Elements from columns A and C can be used in any order as long as they make sense and have 2 different subjects (persons). You will write a total of 15 sentences in the template below.

For each verb type, follow these guidelines:
Write the correct letter of the verb ending to match the subject.
Conjugate each verb for all 6 persons in the imperfect.

Present subjunctive sentence writing practice
Students will write a total of 10 sentences in the template provided.
For each sentence create 2 subjects (people). You can use subject pronouns (yo, tú etc and names of people) but do not repeat any subjects.
Conjugate the introductory verb for subject 1 in the present tense and conjugate the second verb in the present subjunctive for subject 2.
Write a minimum 8 word sentence. Post the word count at the end of the sentence.
Subjunctive formula for writing sentences:
Subject 1 + introductory verb (present tense) + que + subject 2 + present subjunctive verb + rest of the sentence
A change of subject is required for every sentence.

Imagine that you have seen a bulletin board with job ads. However, they do not provide any description about the job. All the ads only have a phone number that interested candidates can call. For each job ad, write 3 questions in the present tense. Please vary your questions for each job. Then, you and a classmate will interview each other where one person is the candidate and the other person is responding on the phone.

Students will read a total of 5 ads and write 15 information questions in the present tense to interview a partner.

El horario de la escuela speaking activity (present tense)
El Santo high school is taking on a new initiative this year. The school is allowing students to design their own schedule as long as they take 7 classes per day in any order. Imagine that you are a student at El Santo high school and create your own schedule below. Your classes must include the following: el inglés, las mátematicas (la geometría , el álgebra, el cálculo), las ciencias (la biología, la física, la química), la lengua (el español , el francés, el latín, el árabe, el chino), la educación físcia, el arte.
After creating your own schedule, swap your schedule with a partner and vice versa. Each of you will write and ask your partner 3 questions for every class for a total of 21 questions. All questions must be information questions (start with a question word) and use the present tense. Questions can be about what the class is like, how many students, who the teacher is and what he or she is like, how much homework, what activities happen in the class etc. You do not need to ask questions for the lunch period.
Students are given a schedule template for writing their classes and for writing their 3 questions. A list of question words and adjectives with ser are provided.

READING: EL DÍA ESCOLAR (present tense)
Read about Luisa’s school day as she talks about her classes. Then, answer the comprehension questions in a complete sentence in Spanish.
There are 12 comprehension questions in the present tense. Tener que + infinitive is also used in the reading. Answer key is included.
A second activity is also included where students can read about Luisa’s classes and write 2 information questions for each class and interview a classmate. Students will write a total of 12 information questions.
This reading is ideal for Spanish 2 to do during the first few weeks of school.
